Adamawa State Governor, Rt.Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated the call for religious tolerance among all ethnic groups in the country and obedience to laws aimed at achieving orderliness in the society.

As Muslims across the World commence the 2024 Ramadan fast, Governor Fintiri urges the Ummah to put the fear of Allah in all their dealings and prayed that Allah will use the commencement of the Ramadan period to put a stop to the violence and untoward events being witnessed in some parts of the country, adding that the period of abstinence calls for behavioural change.

Governor Fintiri also expressed appreciation to Almighty Allah who has counted all those alive worthy to participate in another Ramadan fasting period, while praying for a successful Ramadan period, he said, “When a Muslim observes fasting, he becomes compassionate about his fellow beings.”

He added that apart from Ramadan being a period of abstinence it should also be a period of moderation and shunning of those things that are unlawful.

“Ramadan has multiple benefits such as education and elimination of lack of knowledge, and each time people listen to sermons and messages during Ramadan, their horizon is widened and could be used to solve many of society’s problems.”

While urging the Ummah to offer Zakat during Ramadan, he said it provides an opportunity to eliminate lack.

This press statement is released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Humwashi Wonosikou.
