Not fewer than 300 people today has benefitted from the NYSC free health initiative for rural dwellers in Labarge community of Gombi local government area of Adamawa State.
In a welcome address delivered by the community leader Mal. Mohammed Jibir Bello, who really expressed his delight over the laudable programme and pray for it’s sustainability.
Sensitization on the causes and ways of preventing cervical Cancer among women by a Corps Doctor Reuben Yilla, who also, talked briefly on ways of prevention and contracting HIV/AIDS after words one of the collaborators the Society for family health/the alliance for health and right advance initiative wrapped it up with a sensitization on safety precautions on the deadly virus HIV/AIDS and drugs administration.
The Director personnel management (DPM) Gombi local government area Mal. Ibrahim Dauda, who was represented by Mr. Habakuk Kwanu, expressed his delight to NYSC for bringing the health programme to Gombi this time around. Mr. Habakuk who was accompanied by the Gombi Nulge Chairman Mal. Abubakar Mohammed and the Gombi LGA procurement officer Usaini Isa Basi.
Flagging-off the 2024 first quarter HIRD programme by the NYSC State Coordinator Mal. Mohammed Lawan Ahmed, who was ably represented by the head of community development service programme (CDS) Mr. Sumla Elisha, expressed his unalloyed appreciation to the community heads, contributors and the beneficiaries for their support towards the success of the programme. Sumla, also called on various stake holders and prominent individuals to continue to support the programme for sustainability.
High point of the event was the conduct of free diagnosis, blood testing, and administration of drugs to the patients by the Corps Doctors. Also, to ensure the safety of Corps members and the beneficiaries the military under Gombi command led by their commanding officer Captain Enameti Idiong, provided adequate security throughout the programme.
The district head of Gombi, represented by Alh. Sajo Abubakar, gave a vote of thanks, appreciating the NYSC scheme, Corps members and the local government council for for carrying out such an important programme within his domain.
