Peace Day: SFCG Architectural Dialogue With Stakeholders In Adamaw
The International Day of Peace has always been a time to lay down weapons and observe ceasefire and also a time for people to see each other’s humanity.
The UN General Assembly came together in 1999 to lay out the values needed for a culture of peace.
These include: respect for life, human rights and fundamental freedoms; the promotion of non-violence through education, dialogue and cooperation; commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts.
Other are adherence to freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, plural isism, cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding at all levels of society and among nations.
Search for Common Ground founded by the European Union celebrates the International Day in Yola, Adamawa State with the theme cultivating the culture of peace staging Adamawa State peace and Architectural Dialogue with relevant stakeholders, include traditional and religious leaders, NSCDC among others.
Speaking at the ceremony Prof. John Ngamsa stated that peace building is key and it’s everyone responsibility to build a peaceful environment.
ACC Charity A Fwah, Head of Unit for peace and conflict unit NSCDC Adamawa command said, NSCDC played vital role to ensure peaceful coexistence between families, communal, farmers and headers crisis.
According to her,NSCDC is the closest force to the community and have done well in collaboration with SFCG.
Gambo Wada, COMITAS Project Manager pointed that peace can be nurtured and cultivated and he called on the good people in the state to cultivate the culture of peaceful coexistence.
He also noted that mediator tents shall be put in place for relevant dialogue to be imbibed.
He further called on stakeholders to sustain what they put in place as the project end December.
