Braille Machine Huge price: Visually Impaired Seeks Government Intervention for PWD’s in Adamawa

The Former Assistant Head Teacher at the Special School Jada LGA Adamawa State Mr Kombe Godwin (60) has called on the Adamawa state government to intervene and support the PWDs by providing them with basic machines and equipment that would alleviate the challenges characterized by their disability.

Godwin who has been visually impaired at age 3 expressed how challenging his school days was, stating that his parents could not afford getting him a Braille Machine, according to him braille Machine and brail note is expensive and till date visually impaired students are faced with same challenges as over 70% of his visually impaired students are not capable of getting one.

A Braille machine is a device that produces Braille output from digital text, allowing visually impaired individuals to read and write. Braille machines are essential tools for reading, writing, labeling objects and materials as well as creating tactile graphics and diagrams.

It has Key Features like Braille translation software and Text-to-speech functionality as such it enable visually impaired persons to access information independently, communicate effectively, participate fully in education and employment as well as maintain literacy and independence.

Mr Godwin seized the opportunity to appeal to the Adamawa State Government to assist PWDs and the visually impaired in particular, that aside providing them with machines and equipment that would alleviate their challenges they should also be given opportunity to access quality education and make job opportunities available to them which will inturn engender their economic independence as there is ability in disability.
