The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 43-year-old man, Rabiu Usman, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl in Timdore District, Ganye Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the suspect was arrested following a referral from the Chief Magistrate Court in Ganye after the victim’s mother reported the incident.

Investigations, as stated by the command, revealed that the assault took place on February 16, 2025, when the young girl, who was attending a wedding ceremony in Timdore village, went to a nearby house to get water.

The suspect, was alleged to have dragged her to the back of the compound and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was taken to a medical facility in Ganye for examination and treatment, while the police launched an investigation.

Condemning the act, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris ordered a thorough probe and directed the Family Support Unit to ensure diligent prosecution of the suspect.

The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling sexual and gender-based violence, urging the public to always make available to security operatives genuine information that will help track down Persons who indulge in such an act.
