- Fintiri Commends DSS for Improved Security, Arrest of Notorious Kidnap Gang

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has praised operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for their role in enhancing security across the state, attributing recent successes to the leadership of newly appointed Director General, Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri lauded the DSS for a series of successful security operations, particularly the recent arrest of two suspected members of a notorious kidnap gang—Namomai Medan and Mikaila Yusufa—in the state capital and surrounding areas.
The suspects are believed to be part of a three-man gang behind the abduction of two Catholic priests, Fr. Matthew David Dutsemi and Fr. Abraham Sauman, who were kidnapped in February 2025 from a convent in Numan, Adamawa State.
An earlier operation by DSS operatives had led to the arrest of another suspect in the gang, identified as Taledo Jonathan Damiel.
Fintiri commended the DSS for rescuing the kidnapped clerics without paying ransom and applauded the operatives for apprehending the masterminds behind the crime.
“The bravery and professionalism displayed by the DSS in this operation is commendable,” the governor stated. “We thank the DSS leadership in Abuja and here in the state for their relentless efforts in safeguarding lives and property.”
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to security, warning that anyone found guilty of criminal activities would face the full wrath of the law. He also emphasized the need for intelligence sharing and collaboration among security agencies.
“Enhanced cooperation among the DSS, Police, Armed Forces, and other agencies is crucial to maintaining peace and attracting investors,” Fintiri added, noting that sustained security is key to the state’s socio-economic development.
