A joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and Fulani Vigilantes has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims from Ankomi Forest in Kogi State.

According to a statement by the Kogi State Police Command, the rescue took place during an ongoing raid on criminal hideouts in the forest.

The victims were said to have been freed unharmed after a fierce gun battle, which forced the kidnappers to flee, abandoning their captives. Authorities believe the fleeing suspects sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.

The victims were identified as Musa Abdullahi from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Abdulazeez Adamu from Okene in Kogi State, and Yusuf Ibrahim from Zaria in Kaduna State.

Investigations, according to the police, revealed that Abdullahi and Adamu were abducted on May 15, 2025, while traveling in a J5 vehicle along Osara Road en route from Ekpoma in Edo State to Jos. Ibrahim was reportedly kidnapped from a trailer on the same road and date.

Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, praised the gallantry of the joint security team and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eradicating crime across the state in partnership with other security agencies.

The Police Command has also urged nearby communities to be vigilant and report any individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds to the nearest security formation.
