The newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State Council, has expressed deep appreciation to members of the union for their overwhelming support and confidence in the outcome of the recent council elections.

In a statement issued on Monday and jointly signed by the new Chairman, Abdullahi Ibrahim, and Secretary, Kissinger Bukar, the leadership thanked members for entrusting them with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the union.

They described the support as a strong reflection of the unity and progressive spirit within the Adamawa journalism community.

“We are deeply honored by the mandate you have given us to serve and lead the noble profession of journalism in our beloved state,” the statement read. “Your active participation in the democratic process is a testament to the maturity and commitment of our members.”

The leadership also commended the Credentials Committee for conducting a free, fair, and transparent election, and appreciated the outgoing executive for their service and contributions to the growth of the council. Fellow contestants were praised for their sportsmanship and dedication to the ideals of the union.

Looking ahead, the new leadership pledged to promote press freedom, enhance the welfare of members, and prioritize capacity building and professionalism within the union. They also reaffirmed their commitment to fostering unity and inclusivity among members.

The new leadership called for collective action and solidarity among journalists in the state. “We urge all members to join hands with us in partnership as we work to reposition the NUJ in Adamawa State for greater impact and relevance,” it added.
