By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola

In a renewed push to curb violent crime and reduce the circulation of illegal firearms, the Adamawa State Police Command has announced plans to intensify collaboration with the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW).

The move was disclosed by the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, during a courtesy visit to the Command by the NCCSALW North-East Zonal Coordinator, Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd).

Morris reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with the Centre to identify, recover, and eliminate illicit arms across the state.

He assured the visiting delegation of the police’s full support in efforts aimed at curbing the threat posed by illegal weapons and enhancing public safety.

In his remarks, Major General Abubakar Adamu (Rtd) emphasized the need for sustained cooperation among security agencies and key stakeholders in addressing arms proliferation.

He underscored the Centre’s strategy of mopping up illegal weapons through organized collection and destruction initiatives.

The visit signals a deepening of inter-agency cooperation in the fight against armed violence, as security authorities intensify efforts to promote peace and stability in Adamawa State.
