Adamawa Police Reopen 2023 Acid Attack Case After Renewed Public Outcry

The Adamawa State Police Command has reopened investigations into a 2023 acid attack that left three people, including Miss Eve Usman Kwala, with severe injuries.

The decision comes in response to fresh public outcry and recent media reports demanding justice in a case that had previously stalled after initial investigations produced no arrests.

In a statement released over the weekend and signed by the Command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Y. Nguroje, the police acknowledged that although the incident was properly reported and documented two years ago, no suspects were apprehended. Nguroje noted that renewed pressure from victims and concerned citizens compelled the Command to revisit the matter.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigations to immediately re-examine the case file, revisit earlier findings, and gather both fresh and existing evidence. The renewed investigation will also involve identifying and questioning all individuals connected to the attack, whether directly or indirectly.

The Command appealed to members of the public with useful information to come forward, assuring that all submissions would be handled with strict confidentiality.

Reaffirming its commitment to justice and public safety, the police emphasized that serious crimes—especially one as grievous as an acid attack—would not be allowed to go unresolved.
