Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, describing it as a top priority during the 2026 International Workers’ Day celebration in Adamawa State.

Speaking at the event themed “Insecurity and Poverty: Bane of Decent Work,” the governor congratulated workers across the state for their dedication and contributions to development. He outlined ongoing and planned measures aimed at improving working conditions and boosting the state’s workforce.

Fintiri disclosed that the state government is set to recruit new staff to strengthen the local government system, adding that efforts are also underway to address manpower shortages in critical sectors.

He announced that the government has finalized arrangements to release the list of over 5,000 teachers recruited to bridge gaps in the education sector.

The governor further highlighted investments in security and infrastructure as part of broader strategies to improve the state’s economic outlook. According to him, the administration remains committed to implementing policies that will attract investors and create more employment opportunities for residents.

Meanwhile, the outgoing chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Adamawa State commended the governor for consistently prioritizing workers’ welfare throughout his tenure.

During the leadership handover, he described his time in office as smooth, attributing it to the support of the government and effective governance.

He urged labour unions in the state to extend the same level of cooperation and support to the incoming leadership to ensure continuity and progress.
