2023: Why Nigerians should vote for Tinubu-Rights Activist, Saheed

A 45-year-old civil rights activist, Rasheed Saheed has said that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the best among those jostling for the office of the president of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections.

Saheed, who spoke in an interview, said that Tinubu has enough experience that will be useful for the development of the country.

The activist maintained that Nigerians should do away with sentiments and go for a man with enough pedigree, who he said has the knowledge of the numerous problems confronting the nation, who can hit the ground running and make things work in the country.

According to him, “Nigerians cannot afford to entrust the future of the country in the hands of charlatans, who have nothing good to offer.

“See what Tinubu did in Lagos State as Governor. He improved the IGR of the state, created the necessary agencies and turned around the economy of the state.

“Today, Lagos State is the fifth largest economy in Africa, it is more secured than other states and other states are using it as a model.

“What else do we want in a president, he has produced and made leaders, he is exposed, well educated, he is articulate and he has wide connections.”

He pleaded with Nigerians to make hays while the sun shines and support a man that he said is not going into office to amass wealth.

The Abeokuta-born artisan recalled that Tinubu rose from grass to grace and that his ability to deliver is not doubt, unlike those he said wanted to do trial and error.

He said further that Tinubu stands tall amongst his contemporaries and former governors that served along with him from 1999 to 2007, asking “how many of them are still relevant in the scheme of things today?”

“That is what we are saying. Someone like the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has never occupied an executive position before, he was a vice president.

“On his part, Mr. Peter Obi, the standard bearer of the Labour Party, cannot point to any tangible development in Anambra State, so he cannot rival Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“My take is that we now have another hope after the botched Hope ’93, when the June 12 Presidential Election won by the late Chief M.K.O Abiola was annulled.

“It is time for us to redeem that and give it to a man that can renew this hope. It is an opportunity for all Nigerians as Tinubu cannot be restricted to one ethnic group. He is more than being called a Yorubaman, he is a Nigerian with love for the masses,” he said.

While urging Nigerians to troop out to cast their votes, when the time comes, he emphasised that Tinubu is “the best thing to happen to Nigeria and we will do our best to campaign for him and ensure that the votes of the teeming Nigerian masses count.”
