The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued five male children suspected to have been abducted from Maiduguri, Borno State, and unlawfully transported to Mubi.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the rescue operation was conducted on September 13, 2025, following credible intelligence received by the police.

Acting on the tip-off, the Area Commander in Mubi, ACP Marcos Mancha, led a surveillance team that intercepted the children as they were found wandering the streets of Mubi.

The rescued children have been identified as: Adamu Musa (16), Suleiman Idris (10), Suleiman Mohammed (11), Dauda Yahaya (11), and, Mohammed Alhassan (11)

All five victims are said to be residents of the Gwange area in Maiduguri.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were allegedly taken from Maiduguri by one Aliga Suleiman, a resident of Sabon Layi, Gwange. The suspect is currently at large, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend him.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, commended the swift response of the Mubi Area Command and directed that every effort be made to reunite the children with their families and ensure the suspect faces justice.

He also reassured the public of the Command’s continued commitment to protecting lives and property throughout Adamawa State.
