Adamawa Police Debunk Viral Fake News on Alleged Beheading of CAN Chairman

By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola

The Adamawa State Police Command has debunked a viral social media post claiming that the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was beheaded by Fulani terrorists.

The post, reportedly shared by a Facebook user identified as Lionman Lioni, circulated widely online and caused alarm among residents.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Command described the report as “false, inciting, and the handiwork of mischief-makers” aimed at causing panic, tension, and religious disaffection within the state.

“There is no such incident recorded anywhere in Adamawa State,” the statement read.

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris called on members of the public to ignore the fake news and verify any information from credible sources before circulating it.

He also disclosed that an investigation is underway to track down and prosecute those behind the false publication.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring peace, public safety, and harmonious coexistence among all residents of Adamawa State.
