Adamawa Police Arrest Three Over Alleged Kidnap Extortion Attempt

By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three men for allegedly attempting to extort a resident of Song Local Government Area by threatening to kidnap him.

According to the Command, the incident began on 18 November 2025 when the victim received a call from an unknown number demanding ₦2 million. The caller allegedly warned that he would be kidnapped and possibly killed if he failed to pay. The frightened resident reported the threat to the police the next day.

In a statement, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris directed the State Intelligence Department to trace the caller and ensure the suspects were apprehended. A technical investigation reportedly led officers to the three suspects: Ahmadu Alhaji Halilu, Adamu Buba Balejo, and Hassan Alhaji Liman.

The suspects, all residents of Malabu district in Fufore Local Government Area, were arrested and are said to have confessed during interrogation. Police also recovered a SIM card allegedly used to make the threatening call.

Morris commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime across the state. He added that the investigation remains ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged in court.

The Command urged residents to promptly report emergencies or suspicious activities via its hotlines 08065604764 or 08089671313, or through its official social media handles.
