Gombe State Governorship candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Hon. Khamis Ahmed Mailantarki has hinted that 2023 will be a year of liberation for Gombe State citizens.
According to a statement at the weekend felicitating with the people on the New Year: “As we approach the 2023 general elections, I beseech the good people of Gombe state to use their voting franchise to elect credible leaders with the masses in their hearts.
“I assure you, voting me under the podium of the NNPP as the next Governor of Gombe state is synonymous to voting for freedom and economic prosperity,” he urged.
He however expressed doubt over the All Progressives Congress (APC) government taking the people and the state to the promised land.
He said: “It’s obvious that the present leadership in Gombe has failed in security, education, agriculture, and human capital development among others.
“The hitherto proscribed ‘Yan Kalare’ thugs by the previous administration has regrettably resurfaced under the watch of today’s leadership,” he lamented.
Mailantarki reminded that, it’s no doubt that the past few years have been quite challenging, adding that, the COVID-19 pandemic, global economic adversity and conflicts in many parts of the world have affected Nigeria and it’s citizens, noting especially the ongoing invasion of Ukraine by the Russian.
He said: “The heinous activities of the Boko Haram and Bandits largely operating in the North, particularly the North Eastern region, is something to be worried and reflected about as we ushered into the 2023.
“I’ll use this opportunity to commiserate with the families of the victims of such cold-heartedness.
“In all we have gone through, purposeful leadership provides succour to the despaired and despondent citizens and where there’s abysmal neglect by those in authority, the masses bear the brunt and hold the short end of the stick.
“While wishing us happy new and prosperous 2023, I want to pledge to the good people of Gombe state that God’s willing, it would be a year of political and economic liberation in the state,” he hoped.
