Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 65-year old man for allegedly raping an 11-year old orphan repeatedly.
The command also paraded five suspects including two ex-convicts who specialise in killing motorcycle owners before disposing their machines.
A female money counterfeiter and another five sex hawkers were also paraded yesterday by the command.
The rapist, Elam Gari, a father of eight farmer of down Labariya in Shongom local government of Gombe State was said to have sexually molested the girl (names withheld.)
According to the NSCDC commandant, Waziri Gona, the culprit who often took the girl to bush path, always threatened to kill her should she disclose his illicit affairs to anyone including her guardian.
He told newsmen that Elam usually come from down Labariya to upper Labariya, searching for the poor girl before taking advantage of her in a nearby bush.
The victim recounted how she fell into the hands of the rapist: “I was on errand one day and I I was pressed and wanted to ease myself in the nearby bush when I a hand grabbed me from behind and when I made to shout he covered my mouth with a threat to kill me.”
The fear of her being killed however prevented her from telling her uncle, another farmer in the neighborhood.
According to the victim: “it was like he was everyone I go as he always seize me from behind to drag me into the bush,” she said.
The guardian, Dahiru Timothy told journalists that he caught the man while dragging his nephew into the bush: “we were about to eat when she sought to visit the toilet but when I realised that she was away for a while, I stepped out to confront Elam pulling her away. Then I shouted and seized him then I reported the case to the NSCDC,” he narrated.
The counterfeiter arrested with six hundred dollars however stated that she got the money from her boyfriend in Kano, noting that she didn’t know the currencies were fake, “it was when I tried to change them to naira that I was told they were fake,” she said.
Meanwhile, the command also paraded two ex-convicts, Saidu Garba and Haruna Majidadi over cases of alleged motorcycles theft and killing three owners of the items.
They were arrested alongside three others: Tukur Abubakar, Wada Ahmadu and Abdullah Adamu for accomplices. They all blamed devil and selfishness for their actions.
Our reporter reliably learnt that Saidu and Haruna met at correctional center while separately serving jail terms over theft-related cases.
The duo confessed to at times killings their victims before engaging other three members of the gang to dispose the motorcycles.
Narrating their ordeals yesterday, Saidu recounted that he met Haruna in a correctional centre, “I met Haruna in prison and since then we have become friends and doing ‘businesses together,”‘ he said.
He also confessed: “so far we have killed three people while collecting their motorcycles.”
Saidu of Bajoga in Funakaye local government said he and Haruna of Nafada local government, both in Gombe State often consider killings, enchanting and taming their unsuspecting victims.
“So far, we have killed three people who wanted to be too smart and dangerous for us,” he said.
It is after collecting the motorcycles that the trio of Tukur Abubakar, Wada Ahmadu and Abdullah Adamu appear in the scene; to dispose the items in far away Bauchi State and obscure areas like Future, Dukku and Kashere.
Abubakar told our reporter that they often sell N600,000 worth of Bajaj motorcycles for as low as N150,000 to waiting buyers.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO,) Buhari Saad urged the public to always avail security operatives information when sought, adding that the command was able to achieve all accolades because of informations from the citizenry.
