Big Family 360 Foundation, an NGO, says it is set to support
the livelihood of no fewer than one million malnourished children and 5,000 households
in the North-East under its Food Bank project.
Executive Director of the foundation, Dirug Samuel, said this during the inauguration of the project
in Yola.
He said some of the objectives of the project are to help eliminate hunger and acute malnutrition
among children and encourage enrollment and retention in schools.
He added that “for now, we are targeting 5,000 households in the North East under the North-East Food
Bank project and one million malnourished children, especially in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, the three
affected states by insurgency.”
According to him, beneficiaries have been carefully selected for being vulnerable and malnourished.
He said the households would be supported with food items, while the children would receive nutritious
foodstuff monthly from the organisation’s food bank.
Mr Henry Wandiya, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Yola Renewal Foundation, commended the
foundation for the initiative.
He described the project as first of its kind in the North-East and a humanitarian gesture for vulnerable people in
the region.
Mr Heman Danladi, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Big Family 360 Foundation, said the foundation is a
non-profit-making body and has completed community mapping for the project’s implementation.
