The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ in Adamawa state congratulates Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on his successful inauguration as governor of Adamawa state for a second term.
The Association also commends the governor for choosing professor Kaletapwa George Farauta as first female deputy governor in north east Nigeria, and indeed Adamawa state.
A statement signed by Adamawa NAWOJ Chairperson, Rose Anthony Elishama and Secretary, Gloria Abutu described the gesture as a milestone in the history of our dear state Adamawa, to afford a woman the opportunity to serve in that prestigious office.
The statement further adds that the choice of Professor Farauta is not a mistake, considering her track record in the development of the state.
NAWOJ while wishing the governor and his deputy a successful tenure in office, appealed for 35 percent affirmative action in order to give women more opportunities for meaningful development.
NAWOJ prays God to grant the Governor and his Deputy the wisdom to provide the people with the dividends of democracy as they steer the ship of leadership in the state.
