The Adamawa State Police Command has successfully arrested 2 female suspects for alleged conspiracy, stealing and selling 4 years old boy known as Friday Okonkwo.
The female suspects apprehended include Blessing Okonkwo, 24 years old and Efunaya Nabufe, 35 years old who reside Mubi North LGA, Adamawa state.
Both accused confessed to the crime while being interrogated by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Ngurore at the Headquarters on Thursday the 4th of June 2024.
The police spokesman SP Ngurore,further detailed that the mother of the boy, Hauwa Lawan who has longed been separated from her husband now lives at Rimirgo in Askira Uba LGA, Borno State,Hauwa reported the stealing of her son to the police on the 2nd July, 2024 as she was alerted by her ex-husband.
Blessing, who is an elder sister to Friday met her mother at Rimirgo sometimes last year and pleaded with her to release her younger brother to her so as to enroll him in school in Mubi since there is no standard school in Rimirgo.
Hauwa then released her little boy to her being her first daughter unknown to her that her daughter had concluded negotiations with Efunaya on how sell the boy to her.
While negotiating for the sale of the little boy, Blessing was said to have deceived Efunaya that Friday is her son and that she was impregnated while in Secondary School and gave birth to him.
She left with the boy to Mubi and sold him at the sum of N410,000 to Efunaya arranged with her younger brother who has been married without a child took little boy to Enugu State as both of them confessed to the police.
Meanwhile during interrogation, Blessing the elder sister informed the PPRO that she had used the money and bought grinding machine, handset and gave her fiance the sum of N200,000 in assisting her fiance to help pay her bride price.
The PPRO stated that investigation is ongoing as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo,specifically the suspects are both in the police custody awaiting the arrival of the little boy from Enugu.
The commission of police has ordered that the both suspects should remain in the custody until the little Friday is reunited to his mother.
Meanwhile the CP Dankombo has assured the good people of Adamawa that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
He also uses the opportunity to call on the good people of Adamawa to always report any suspected move around their community as he assured people that the police is ever ready to fight against crime.Accordimg to him if you see something you say something and eventually the police will do something to that effect.
