The disaster triggered by relentless rainfall and the overflow of local rivers, has left residents grappling with significant losses.
“According to local authorities, several communities in Hong LGA have been severely impacted, with homes inundated and personal belongings destroyed. Preliminary reports indicate that hundreds of residents have been displaced, seeking refuge in temporary shelters or with relatives.

Critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges, has been damaged, hindering access to affected areas and complicating rescue efforts.
“We lost everything—our crops, our homes. The water came so fast, we couldn’t save much,” said one of the victims, a resident of one of the affected communities. Local farmers fear the floods will exacerbate food insecurity, as vast farmlands have been washed away.
The Adamawa state government has appealed to the federal Government for Assistance and urged residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer grounds. Meteorologists warn that more rains are expected, raising fears of further flooding across the region.
The devastating disaster comes on the heels of the catastrophic Yola floods, which displaced thousands and caused widespread destruction. Authorities are now under pressure to implement long-term flood mitigation measures to prevent recurring losses.
