APC Confident of Victory in Ganye Constituency Bye-Election

By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola

‎Ahead of Saturday’s House of Assembly bye-election in Ganye constituency, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed total confidence in clinching victory, staging a massive rally that drew thousands of party supporters and heightened political activity in the area.

The election, scheduled for August 16 and to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will see APC’s candidate, Comrade Musa Musa Jauro, face off against Barrister Mohammed Buba Joda of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

‎Speaking at the rally, Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the Ganye bye-election and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, vowed that the party would secure an early and decisive victory.

‎“Before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, APC will defeat our main rival. We will defend our votes and ensure they are counted,” Bichi said, pledging to deliver ongoing federal road projects, including the Ganye–Jada–Mbulo and Jabbi Lamba–Belel–Cameroon roads.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Walin Ganye, Sadiq Mohammed, for their contributions to the Ganye–Mbulo–Jada project.

Also addressing the crowd, Senator Abubakar MoAllahyidi declared Ganye an APC stronghold, predicting a “90 percent margin” win, while Minister of Livestock Development Idi Mukhtar Maiha described the creation of his ministry as proof of the president’s commitment to the area, a hub of livestock production.

North-East APC Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, said the election was “already settled” in favour of the party, claiming 95 percent of Ganye residents support APC. He urged members to welcome defectors into the fold.

Meanwhile, Ganye Local Government Chairman, Hon. Farouk Muhammad Ganye, while hosting journalists, highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the restoration of the collapsed “Welcome to Ganye” gate, provision of an official vehicle for the council chairman’s office, youth employment initiatives, and renovation of the LGA secretariat. He, however, expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge victorious in the polls.

The bye-election is expected to be a closely watched contest as both parties intensify last-minute campaigns in the constituency.
