NLCA, Adamawa Govt Champion Localisation, Knowledge Sharing for Stronger Community Impact

The Nigeria Local Coalition Accelerator (NLCA), in partnership with the Adamawa State Government, has convened a peer learning and knowledge exchange forum focused on promoting localisation and collective impact among civil society and non-governmental organisations in the state.
The event, themed “Accelerating Localisation through Collaboration and Partnership: Shared Experience and Collective Impact,” brought together key stakeholders including the Network of Adamawa Non-Governmental Organizations (NANGO), the Civil Society Coalition on Collective Action (CACO), and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Adamawa.
Speaking during the event at the Government House Banquet Hall in Yola, Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Heidi Edgar Sunday, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening coordination mechanisms and supporting local organisations.
She emphasised the importance of community ownership in developmental projects, pledging the government’s continued support for initiatives that prioritize local needs and ensure sustainable, community-led interventions.
Chairman of the NLCA, Mr. Richard Inyamkume, highlighted the organisation’s ongoing efforts in driving local impact across Adamawa’s local government areas. He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s leadership, describing the event as a milestone in advancing localisation and partnership-driven development in Nigeria.
Pioneer NLCA Chairman, Mr. Yusuf Amos Sunday, lauded the organisation’s progress and underscored the need for continuous collaboration to enhance the capacity of local NGOs for effective implementation of projects.
Also speaking, Chairman of NANGO, Mr. Peter Michael Egwudah,said the forum provided a valuable platform for experience sharing and partnership building among civil society actors. He called for the sustainability of such engagements to strengthen local responses and ensure greater self-sufficiency in project implementation.
During a presentation on NLCA’s impact, Mr. John Manabete outlined achievements in education, health, entrepreneurship, and climate change interventions across Gombi, Mubi North, and Michika Local Government Areas.
According to him, through joint action plans, over 2,000 out-of-school children have been reintegrated into classrooms, 1,400 transitioned into formal education, and several infrastructure upgrades—including the renovation of eight classroom blocks and provision of 200 furniture units, drugs, and learning materials—have been completed.
The event featured goodwill messages, panel discussions, and presentations, all aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange for more impactful and locally driven development efforts in Adamawa State.
