23 Brigade Commander Distributes Christmas Packages to Widows, Magajiya

The Acting Commander, Sector 4 Operation Hadin Kai and Commander of 23 Brigade, Brigadier General Amechi Agwu, has distributed Christmas relief packages to more than 70 widows and Magajiyas within the brigade community.
The distribution took place on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Sergeants’ Mess, Headquarters 23 Brigade, where beneficiaries received bags of rice and financial support to ease their Christmas celebrations.
Speaking during the event, Brigadier General Agwu said the outreach was organized to demonstrate the command’s commitment and continued support to widows of fallen soldiers and key women leaders within the barracks. He noted that the Christmas season is one that symbolizes love, hope, and goodwill, but can also be a painful reminder for families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty.
He emphasized that the brigade recognizes the sacrifices made by fallen soldiers, stressing that their families are not forgotten. According to him, the gesture was a way of honoring the memories of the fallen heroes who paid the supreme price for the peace and security of the nation.
Brigadier General Agwu also commended the Magajiyas for their unwavering efforts in promoting unity and family stability within the barracks, describing them as vital pillars of the cantonment.
Responding on behalf of the Magajiyas, their leader, Christiana Patrick, expressed gratitude to the commander for remembering them during the festive season. She said the support would go a long way in helping beneficiaries prepare for Christmas celebrations.
One of the widows, Naomi James, also expressed appreciation on behalf of all the widows, thanking the brigade commander for the gesture. She said the support reassured them that they are not alone and that the sacrifices of their husbands continue to be remembered.
The event ended with words of encouragement and goodwill as the beneficiaries applauded the commander for his compassion and leadership.
