Women from across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State have made a historic political statement by mobilizing over N120 million to support the potential governorship ambition of Tijjani Ahmed Galadima ahead of the 2027 elections.

The women, under the aegis of the Galadima Women Support Movement (GWSM), converged in Yola, the state capital, where they formally called on Galadima, the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF), to contest the gubernatorial seat.

Describing their action as a patriotic effort, the group said the initiative was driven by a desire to ensure good governance, peace, and sustainable development in Adamawa State. The gathering, which attracted participants from all parts of the state, was marked by strong expressions of unity and support for Galadima’s leadership potential.

In her welcome address, the zonal coordinator of the movement, Paulina Kaigama, said the decision to back Galadima was based on his track record, integrity, and experience in public service. She noted that the state stands to benefit from his leadership if he answers the call to serve.

Similarly, the state coordinator, Mariya Adamu Nyako, said the women were convinced of Galadima’s capacity to deliver good governance. She emphasized that the funds were raised voluntarily, largely through contributions from petty traders and grassroots supporters.

“We have seen the light in him and believe he is the right person to lead Adamawa State. This is why we have come out in our numbers to appeal to him to contest,” she said.

Nyako added that the movement independently mobilized over N120 million to enable Galadima purchase the nomination and expression of interest forms required to join the race.

Responding on behalf of her husband, Hajiya Sa’adatu Tijjani Galadima expressed deep appreciation to the women for their overwhelming support and sacrifice. She commended their commitment and solidarity, describing the gesture as a strong demonstration of confidence in her husband’s leadership.

She also acknowledged the role of women in the development of Adamawa State and reiterated her appreciation for their efforts in mobilizing resources and support.

The event marks a significant moment in grassroots political mobilization in the state, highlighting the growing influence of women in shaping the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
