Kaduna Polytechnic Graduates Decry Prolonged Delay in NYSC Mobilization

Graduates of Kaduna Polytechnic have raised alarm over what they describe as a prolonged and unexplained delay in their mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a situation they say has left many of them stranded for more than three years after graduation.
Affected graduates say the delay has gone beyond administrative inconvenience, leading to lost job opportunities and stalled careers, as many employers require an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate as a condition for employment.
According to them, despite completing their academic programmes successfully, they have been unable to move forward with their professional lives.
“This is not just a delay on paper; it has destroyed real lives,” one graduate said. “People who are qualified and ready to work are being turned away simply because they cannot present an NYSC certificate.”
The graduates describe the experience as emotionally and financially draining, noting that years of study and personal investment have yielded little progress due to the uncertainty surrounding their mobilization status. Families of affected students are also said to be bearing the burden, as many graduates remain unemployed and dependent.
They are now calling on the Federal Government, the National Youth Service Corps, and other relevant education authorities to urgently investigate the recurring delay in mobilizing Kaduna Polytechnic graduates.
The students insist that they deserve clear explanations, fair treatment, and the opportunity to fulfill their national service obligations like their peers from other institutions.
As the number of affected graduates continues to grow, concerns are mounting that the problem may worsen if urgent action is not taken. The graduates have appealed to authorities not to ignore their plight, stressing that timely mobilization is crucial to their future and to national development.
The call has gained traction on social media under hashtags such as #MobilizeKadPolyGraduates and #NYSCNowForKadPoly, with students tagging relevant government agencies and officials in hopes of drawing attention to their situation.
