Adamawa NUJ Sympathises with Bauchi Council Over Journalists’ Auto Crash

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adamawa State Council, has expressed sympathy with its Bauchi State counterpart following a motor accident involving journalists that left several members injured.
The accident occurred on Friday along the Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The journalists were returning from an official assignment of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), led by the Minister of State for Regional Development, Alhaji Uba Maigari Ahmadu, alongside other top government officials.
In a statement issued by the Adamawa State Council, the NUJ described the incident as unfortunate and painful, noting that it occurred at a time when journalists continue to make significant sacrifices in the course of their professional duties.
Signed by the Chairman of the Adamawa State Council, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim, and the Secretary, Comrade Kissinger Bukar, the council acknowledged the commitment and dedication of the affected journalists, stressing that the practice of journalism often comes with considerable risks.
The Adamawa NUJ leadership commended the courage and resilience of the injured journalists and prayed for their speedy and full recovery. It also extended its prayers and solidarity to their families, colleagues and the Bauchi State NUJ leadership, urging them to remain strong during the difficult period.
The council further called on relevant authorities and stakeholders to prioritise the safety and welfare of journalists, particularly during official assignments, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Reaffirming its unity with the Bauchi State Council, the Adamawa NUJ assured its continued support, stressing that the union remains one indivisible family bound by shared professional values and mutual care.
