CP Adamawa Honours Officers, Stakeholders for Outstanding Service
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, has honoured outstanding officers and key stakeholders for exceptional service and contributions to security in the state.
The award and commendation ceremony, held at the Officers’ Mess in Yola, celebrated remarkable achievements recorded by the Command over the past year. These included the successful rescue of abducted victims, dismantling of kidnapping syndicates, recovery of illegal firearms and stolen vehicles, intelligence-led arrests of high-profile criminals, prevention of jungle justice incidents, and emergency rescue operations.
The Command was also recognised for promoting human rights and gender-based violence awareness, introducing digital innovations in administrative processes, strengthening community policing structures, and enhancing media engagement to improve public trust and collaboration.
Twenty-four officers received awards across various categories for their professionalism, bravery and dedication to duty.
ACP Shuaibu Musa Wara received the Exceptional Service Award, while ACP Ibrahim Mohammed was named Community Friendly Officer of the Year. ACP Amshi Kazabu was honoured with the Resourceful Officer Award.
CSP Abdul Rasheed Ahmed (CTU) emerged as Outstanding Commander of the Year, CSP Ibrahim Oyetunde was named Best Divisional Police Officer of the Year, and CSP Yahaya Nuhu received the Gallant Officer of the Year Award.
CSP Ayuba Wadai was recognised as Emergency Service Officer of the Year, while CSP Robert Gowankeke earned the Integrity Officer of the Year Award.
SP Hussaini Tijjani Dibal received the Anti-Kidnapping Champion Award, and SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, ANIPR, was honoured with the Public Relations Excellence Award. Other recipients included SP Tanimu Audi Tobacco (Dedicated Officer Award), SP Adamu Usman Daura (Responsive Officer of the Year), ASP Ahmed Idris Wadata (Resource Officer of the Year), ASP Stephen Yohanna (Best Detective of the Year), ASP Mohammed Sule Ndrimbitah (Best Operative of the Year), ASP Amos Ioriligh (Operational Officer Award), and ASP Ahmadu Adamu (Intelligence Excellence Award).
Inspectors Gambo Ibrahim and Hashimu Adamu were recognised as Hardworking Officer and Hardworking Operative respectively, while Inspector Iliyasu Adamu Ardo and PC Ijapari Daku received the Best Dressed Officer (Male and Female) awards. Inspector Saidu Birma was named Best ICT Officer, Inspector Paul Mamud received the Most Dedicated Officer Award, and STW Yusuf Dauda was honoured as Traffic Warden of the Year.
Stakeholders, Media Recognised
In addition, 21 police-friendly stakeholders were honoured for their partnership in promoting security across Adamawa State.
Leading the list was Chief Caleb Andrew, Zonal Manager of Zenith Bank, whose collaboration with the Command was described as instrumental to operational and community policing efforts.
Executive Chairmen of Ganye, Mayo Belwa and Lamurde Local Government Areas were also recognised, alongside chairmen and commanders of local Hunters Groups for their support in combating crime.
Suleiman Umar Alkali, Member representing Yola North in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, was honoured for his commitment to advancing security initiatives within his constituency.
Media organisations and practitioners were equally recognised for responsible reportage that strengthened public confidence in policing activities. Those honoured included the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Nas FM, Jonathan Filibus, and Ojoma Yusuf.
CP Commends Awardees
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police commended the awardees and stakeholders for their courage, professionalism and continued partnership, stressing that merit and excellence would remain central to the Command’s operations.
The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained collaboration with communities and relevant stakeholders to ensure peace, security and public safety across the state.
