Fintiri Calls Return to APC ‘Homecoming,’ Vows to Strengthen Party Unity in Adamawa

By Ojoma Yusuf,Yola

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has described his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a homecoming, insisting that his decision should not be interpreted as a political defection but as a strategic move aimed at fostering unity and development in Adamawa State.

Speaking at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting attended by legacy APC members and his core political allies, the governor said his association with the party dates back to its formative years. He maintained that he was among those who pioneered the APC in Adamawa and that his return represents continuity with the party’s founding vision.

“I am back home like a prodigal son,” Fintiri said while addressing party faithful. “This should not be misunderstood as a defection but a strategic realignment of political forces for the betterment of Adamawa State.”

The governor emphasized that the ideals and principles of the APC remain consistent with his governance agenda. According to him, the decision to return was driven by the need to consolidate political strength, build consensus among stakeholders, and reposition the state for accelerated growth.

He reassured longstanding members of the party that his return was not intended to sideline or overshadow anyone but to work collectively toward strengthening the party and improving the welfare of the people.

In his remarks, the APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), Mustafa Salihu, described the development as a significant turning point in Adamawa’s political landscape. He commended the governor for what he called a bold and strategic decision that demonstrates loyalty to the party’s structure.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar, also praised Fintiri’s move, expressing optimism that Adamawa has the capacity to deliver electoral victories for the APC in future contests.

Similarly, the Adamawa State APC Chairman, Idris Shuaibu, applauded the governor and Nuhu Ribadu for ensuring what he described as a smooth political transition. He assured the governor of the party’s loyalty and pledged unified support to advance development in the state.

Political observers say the governor’s return could significantly reshape party alignments in Adamawa as the APC moves to consolidate its base ahead of forthcoming electoral activities.
