World Drug Day: NDLEA Adamawa Nabs 501 Offenders Seized 1,164.700kg of Hard Drugs

National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Adamawa State command has recorded robust achievement by arresting 501 drug offenders and seized in circulation 1,164.700 Kilograms of substances of abuse in the last one year.

Mr Femi Samson Agboalu, NDLEA State Commander disclose this in commination of 2023  International Day against Drug and Illicit Drug Trafficking in the state, said the officers comprising 491males and 10 females.

The theme for this year’s is “people first, stop stigma and discrimination strengthen prevention”.
He urged parents to take good care of their word so as not to engage in such activities that would destroy their future.

The commander called on parent and traditional rulers, religious leaders and all institutes to assist curb the use of illicit drugs use in Adamawa State.
According the commander the week long exercise was fruitful as he thank the Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for fully assisting the Command.
“Adamawa State has joined  the rest of the world in commemorating the world drug day with a week long activities.


“The theme of this year, is a clarion call in addressing transnational drugs challenges arising from situations of crisis and protecting the right to health for the most vulnerable, including children and youth; people using drugs, people with drug use disorders; and people who need access to controlled medicines,” he said.

Agboala said that the command had prosecuted the offenders.
He further said the seized substances includes; Methamphetamine, cocaine and psychotropic, Cannabis sativa, pentazocine injections among others.
He stressed that the Agency is collaborating with the state government have established the state Drug control committee tagged “Adamawa State Drug Control Centre” for intervention and advisory roles to government on drug control of illicit drug abuse and trafficking.

In his remarks, Governor Fintiri said his administration is in support of any move to safeguard the menace of drug abuse and trafficking.


Fintiri represented by his Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta advised parents and guardians to be watchful of the affairs and company their wards keep with a view to checkmate drug abuse among younger generation.

He appreciated the NDLEA Commander and his entire officers for their tireless effort to keep the state free from drug.

Hamma Bachama representing the traditional rulers greatly appreciated NDLEA for taking out a week to commemorate word drug day.
He called on all parents and teachers to watch their children closely and bring their children for rehabilitation when they are affected by illicit  drugs.

The lecture delivered by Dr Steven gave a full detail about the bad effect of drugs on the youth.

He stated that destinies has been twittered and cut short because of the illicit use of drugs.
Highlight of the event was decorating Governor Fintiri as an Ambassador of the NDLEA.
