NDE disburses starter packs worth N5m to Adamawa unemployed youth

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE), in Adamawa on Monday disbursed starter packs worth N5.040 million to 42 unemployed youths in Adamawa.
Malam Abubakar Fikpo, NDE’s Director-General disclose this in Yola during the disbursement of the loan to beneficiaries in Yola.


Fikpo who was represented by NDE Adamawa State Coordinator, Malam Ibrahim Jimada, said the 42 beneficiaries were amongst the 105 youths recruited across 21 Local Government Areas in state.
“They were trained under the Community Based Training Scheme of the directorates Vocational Skills Development programme.
“We trained them on computer tailoring, welding and fabrication, fashion design, shoes and bags making and carpentering among other skills”, he said.


The DG advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items given to them to be selves employed and employers of labour in their respective communities.
Malam Abdulkarim Abdulkarim, Assistant Chief Training officers, NDE Abuja urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity to be good citizens in the society and be able to contribute to the economy.
He advised them to be committed and hardworking to success in their respective businesses to able to payback the loans in the next three years.
According to him, their effort will give NDE another opportunity to also disburse the money to another set of unemployed youth.
Sakina Muhammad, Loan officer NDE Adamawa, tasked the beneficiaries to abide by the regulation and ensure timely payment of the loan and ensure that they received receipt after each payments to avoid any challenge.


According to her, the loan package is N120, 000 to each beneficiary with nine per cent interest rate and repayment starts six months after collecting their starter packs.
Ms Hazina Sali, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated Federal Government for the gesture, assured that they will make use of the items judiciously toward achieving the goals of NDE.
The starter packs include: Computer sets, Swing machine, carpentering equipment, electrical instrument and Welding Machine .
