Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers during a coordinated security operation in Song Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed credible intelligence received by operatives of the Song Divisional Police Headquarters, which led to a raid carried out on January 24, 2026. The operation, conducted in collaboration with local hunters, targeted a suspected criminal hideout located in a remote area of Balma Village.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, identified the suspects as Shaibu Mohammadu, 30, and Ja’o Bawa, 31.
Items recovered during the operation include one locally fabricated revolver rifle, two mobile phones, and charms. The firearm has been secured and will be used as an exhibit during prosecution.
Police disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in several kidnapping incidents within Song and surrounding communities.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected kidnapping syndicate who are currently at large.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, commended the cooperation between the police and community members, describing the operation as a major boost to the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
He reassured residents of the Command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to keep providing timely and useful information to security agencies.
The Police Command further assured that the suspects would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in line with the law.
