APC Gubernatorial candidate aleading entrepreneur and philanthropist, Diaulhaq Abubakar, has launched a large-scale humanitarian intervention targeting no fewer than 12,000 residents of Adamawa State with food items and cash support to ease the burden of Ramadan and Lent.
Abubakar, who doubles as President of Blue Community Africa, said the initiative was designed to assist both Muslim and Christian faithful observing the sacred periods, in line with religious injunctions to support the less privileged.
He explained that thousands of families have already benefited from the outreach, which commenced about 10 days ago at the start of Ramadan and Lent.
According to him, items being distributed include rice, sugar, seasoning cubes, and cash incentives to enable beneficiaries observe their religious obligations in a conducive atmosphere, particularly amid prevailing economic challenges.
“We are not only dishing out material empowerment, but we also conduct skills training and sensitization. Many of those we trained have acquired talents and are doing excellently well in their various callings,” Abubakar said.
Beyond seasonal palliatives, he noted that Blue Community Africa has, over the years, equipped thousands of beneficiaries with life skills in agriculture, ICT, painting, and educational advancement as part of efforts to combat poverty and boost productivity across different segments of society.
The philanthropist stressed the importance of prioritizing vocational and technical skills in an era driven by rapid technological advancement, warning that no nation can progress by focusing solely on white-collar employment at the expense of blue-collar jobs.
He further disclosed that the foundation has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to facilitate knowledge transfer, as well as Modibbo Adama University to strengthen vocational and skills-based training programmes.
Abubakar said the overall objective of the intervention is to address poverty at its roots while enhancing human capital development across all demographic strata in the state.
