Adamawa Police Arrest Teen Suspect with Hard Drugs, Weapons in Anti-Shilla Crackdown

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect, Haruna Yau, in its sustained crackdown on crime and the activities of Shilla gangs across the state.
Yau, a resident of Jambutu Nafan in Yola North Local Government Area, was apprehended by police operatives during a routine patrol along the Doubeli Bypass in Jimeta, according to a statement issued by the Command.
Police said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of suspected hard drugs, including Tramadol (100mg) and Diazepam tablets. Officers also recovered a knife and a pair of scissors believed to have been in the suspect’s possession.
The Command noted that the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and curb the activities of Shilla gangs, which have remained a security challenge in some parts of the state.
The suspect is currently in police custody while investigations continue. Authorities said he would be arraigned in court upon the completion of the investigation.
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.
He urged members of the public to continue supporting the police and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending offenders.
The Police Command further reiterated its resolve to sustain ongoing operations aimed at maintaining law and order and protecting lives and property throughout Adamawa State.
