Salihu Declares Governorship Ambition, Says Move Driven by “Call of the Masses”

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Salihu Mustapha, has formally declared his intention to contest the Adamawa State governorship election in 2027, stating that his decision was in response to persistent calls from the electorate.
Salihu made the declaration on Tuesday in Yola, where he was received by a large crowd of supporters and party stakeholders during the unveiling of his campaign office. Addressing the gathering, he said his ambition was borne out of a desire to serve and to build on existing achievements in the state.
“I have decided to formally answer the call of the people by presenting myself for service and seeking your support to emerge victorious,” he said.
The aspirant expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whom he described as “the architect of modern Adamawa,” and pledged to consolidate on the administration’s developmental strides if elected.
He also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for what he described as their support and leadership, assuring that he would not disappoint the people of Adamawa if given the mandate.
Salihu noted that his emergence as a governorship aspirant reflects the inclusive nature of the APC, adding that his humble background would not hinder his commitment to delivering good governance.
The declaration marks the beginning of what is expected to be an active political season in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
